CT Dept. of Labor Hosts Statewide Job Fair at CCSU New Britain Campus

Seventy Employers Hiring for Mid- and High-Level Workers

6/05/2025

(Wethersfield, CT) – Today, Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo announced that the Labor Department is hosting a statewide job fair on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Central Connecticut State University Alumni Hall in New Britain. The event features 70 employers from a variety of industry sectors that are hiring workers for mid- to high-level jobs.

Commissioner Bartolomeo said, “This job fair connects top employers with workers who have more extensive experience in their fields—specific skillsets, a deeper background, and other mid-career level knowledge. This is a good opportunity for former federal employees and other experienced workers to see what’s out there, talk directly to recruiters, and get a fuller sense of the company beyond what’s in a job posting. We deeply appreciate Dr. Cheng, Dr. Toro, and the CCSU team for opening their doors for this important event.”

Job fair attendees are not required to register in advance; however, they should bring copies of their resumes and be prepared to speak with employers who are conducting on-site interviews. CTDOL works with all employers at agency job fairs to ensure that they are employers in good standing and are hiring for jobs that are immediately available. Prior to attending a job fair, residents may get free resume writing assistance and other career services virtually or in person by appointment at the American Job Centers.

In February, CTDOL launched an informational webpage to help laid-off federal workers navigate the unemployment benefit issues specific to their situation. Currently, Connecticut has about 250 federal employees filing for unemployment benefits; the monthly labor situation report identifies that an estimated 300 federal jobs were lost last month in Connecticut. The state is also home to federal contractors and grant workers impacted by federal layoffs.

Since April 1, 2025, CTDOL has hosted more than 20 job fairs and recruitment events for workers at all career levels. Agency job fairs are listed on the CTDOL website; residents may also sign up to have new job postings emailed directly.
